Adventure Camera - Kayaking in the Delta

One of the things that continually amazes me about the Bay Area is just how far the San Francisco Bay stretches inland.  Some 45 miles from the Pacific Ocean, there are still tidal waters to be paddled.  Since we've been on a paddling kick lately, we decided to explore more of the delta, and headed up to Antioch and the Sherman Island Waterfowl Preserve.  What a find!  There's a huge reedy, marshy area that's great for exploring in a kayak, and tons of water birds-- egrets, cormorants, ducks, and of course, seagulls.  It reminded Josh of the east coast, where we first started paddling, and overall, it was really a beautiful and interesting place.  I can't wait to go back and explore more!

Ever since driving our moving van over the Altamont Pass when we first moved to California, I've loved windmills.  Somehow, they just fit here.

The local residents kept a keen eye on us as we explored the reed trails.
